Overview
The PhD in Happiness Studies prepares graduates to play a central role in the happiness revolution through research, teaching, and practice. Graduates will be able to work as academics in universities, as teachers or administrators in primary and secondary schools, and as positive change agents in the for profit and not-for-profit sectors. The program, spanning at least five years, includes 66 credits in total (14 three-credit courses and a 24credit dissertation).
Admission Requirements
It is expected that most students entering the PhD program will have the Master’s in Happiness Studies or a related field such as Positive Psychology or Positive Leadership.
Applicants with master’s degrees other than Centenary’s MA in Happiness Studies are required to complete four additional courses, which are part of the MA in Happiness Studies and constitute the Certificate in Happiness Studies:
- GHS-520 Introduction to Happiness Studies I
- GHS-521 Introduction to Happiness Studies II
- GHS-530 Facilitating Happiness I
- GHS-531 Facilitating Happiness II
Applicants with master’s degrees other than Centenary’s MA in Happiness Studies who have completed the Certificate in Happiness Studies through the Happiness Studies Academy are not required to take these courses.
