EDU-3054 Literacy in the Content Areas Literacy in Special Education
High school students are ready to critically evaluate text as enthusiastic change agents. EDU 3054 provides the most current, research-based approaches to the methods of teaching, differentiating, and assessing content area and disciplinary literacy in the high school setting. The purpose of this course is to prepare pre-service secondary educators to use a multiliteracy approach to support their students as they develop critical literacy skills. Students will select from various pedagogical approaches and materials to support adolescent students’ comprehension and composition of the kinds of diverse texts encountered in the disciplines.

Complete EDU-2003 or EDU-2004 with a minimum grade of B-.
