GED-585 Seminar in Athletic & Co-Curricular Administration

An effective athletic or co-curricular administrator has a total program vision that focuses on student development, participation and outcomes. This course will introduce leaders to the roles and responsibilities of modern athletic and co-curricular administrators within the context of best leadership practices. The course is designed both for practicing athletic and co-curricular administrators and those who aspire to those positions. Topics such as scheduling, budgeting, safety, medical protocols, coach and advisor training, hiring practices and evaluation will all be covered. Deeper issues regarding motivation, community desires and communications will also be covered. Students who successfully complete this course will partially fulfill the requirements for certification as a Registered Athletic Administrator (RAA) through the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.
