Transfer Admission

A student wishing to transfer to Centenary University should have a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or better. For students who hold degrees beyond a bachelor’s degree, the GPA from the last degree earned will be considered for admission. In addition to following the regular admissions procedure, the transfer applicant must arrange to have official transcript(s) of college/university grades and course descriptions forwarded to the Transfer Admissions Office for evaluation of transfer credit. Students wishing to transfer to Centenary University on a part‐time basis also should arrange to have their official transcript(s) sent directly to the Transfer Admissions Office. Centenary University evaluates a student's prior learning within the context of the University's own degree programs.

All transcripts received are the property of Centenary University and will not be copied or released.

  1. As a signee of the State's transfer credit policy guide, Centenary adheres to a course‐to‐course transfer policy that guarantees students who transfer into Centenary University from a State of New Jersey public two‐year University with an A.A. degree minimally 45 credits towards its core requirements, or minimally 31 credits for a student from a NJ public two-year college with an A.S. degree.  The evaluation of transfer credits is conducted unofficially through the Office of Transfer Admissions.
  2. Official transfer credit is awarded by the Transcript Evaluator upon receipt of the student’s final official transcript.

Block transfer:

Beginning for Fall 2020 semester, students transferring into Centenary University having earned an A.A. or A.S. degree from a regionally accredited college or university in New Jersey will be considered to have completed all lower division university core curriculum requirements with the exception of prerequisites and/or major related courses that are required within the core.  Students who earned a grade of D (+/-) as part of their Associate degree, may transfer in those credits, unless a higher grade is required for that course as indicated on the degree requirement audit sheet at Centenary University.  A.A.S. and A.F.A. degrees will be evaluated on a course by course basis.
