VAR-3021 Monotype

This course will continue to examine graphics transfer techniques with an approach to art that lies between the fields of drawing, printmaking, and painting. Various wet and dry mediums are drawn, brushed, brayered, and applied in many ways to a variety of plate surfaces such as plexiglass, heavy glass slabs, metal lattes, woodblocks, and collography construction. These highly experimental, one-of-a kind techniques may then be printed and run through an etching press or hand rubbed to produce a unique image. This method allows students to freely "push the boundaries" of traditional painting, drawing, and printmaking methods in a non-traditional context. This course may be repeated for advanced credit.
