Athletics and Intramurals

Students will find participation in intercollegiate athletics or recreational activities a rewarding experience. The men's and women's intercollegiate athletic programs are proud members of the Atlantic East Conference at the NCAA Division III level. Women's teams include basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, wrestling, and volleyball. Men's teams include baseball, basketball, cross country, lacrosse, wrestling, and soccer. Affiliations include the Atlantic East Conference, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Wresting Association (MIWA), and the Eastern University Athletic Conference (ECAC). In addition, Centenary has a NCEA (National Collegiate Equine Association) riding team.  While Centenary University does not offer any athletic scholarships, we do compete against scholarship and non‐scholarship universities throughout the New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania region. Intramural and recreational activities, based upon student interest, include various weekly fitness classes, basketball, dodgeball, volleyball, softball, soccer, and use of the Fitness Center.

The John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center (RSRC) is the locus of indoor intercollegiate athletics, recreational, and leisure activities. It houses the Folkner Family Gymnasium and the University's competition venue for basketball, wrestling, and volleyball. The RSRC is also the location of the fitness center and the practice facility for wrestling. Outdoor facilities include a state‐ of‐the‐art turf field for lacrosse and soccer, a softball field (about to undergo dynamic upgrades), and a baseball practice field. The baseball team plays all their home contests at Our Diamond of Dreams baseball field which officially opened in the fall of 2019.
