BUS-1105 Saving the World, One Non-Profit at a Time
Students will become familiar with the contribution that the non-profit sector makes to our society, economy and the world. Historically, the non-profit sector has been with us for hundreds of
years. Students will look at then and now. They will study the components of structure, governance, finances, and accountability as well as the different models that exist. Students will
analyze case studies and write essays regarding these components. The focus in this course is on 501c3 organizations as opposed to government tax-payer supported entities. After being exposed to several, students will choose an organization to study in detail via SWOT analysis and construct fundraising plans. Students will work in teams on a project with a non-profit organization.
