Educational Opportunity Program (E.O.P.)
he Educational Opportunity Program (E.O.P.) at Centenary University, located in the Campus Life Suite of the Seay Building, is a state-funded initiative dedicated to providing comprehensive academic support services and financial assistance to first-generation university students. These students demonstrate outstanding potential, motivation, and a strong commitment to academic success at Centenary University.
To be eligible for selection into the program, students must be New Jersey residents and fulfill the established criteria set by the State of New Jersey, Centenary University, and the Educational Opportunity Program. Accepted first-time freshmen are required to participate in an immersive five-week residential summer program prior to their first semester at Centenary. This intensive summer experience is designed to strengthen foundational academic skills, familiarize students with campus resources and structure, and build lasting connections with faculty, staff, and peers.
Throughout the academic year, students engage in ongoing seminars focused on leadership development, career exploration, and personal growth. The E.O.P. staff closely monitors student performance and provides personalized counseling services, helping students navigate their transition and adjustment to university life. Although tutoring support is available, the E.O.P.'s primary emphasis remains on holistic student growth and development.
Applicants interested in joining Centenary University through the E.O.P. must complete the standard admissions application along with an E.O.P. questionnaire to determine eligibility. Students who become part of the E.O.P. community play a pivotal role in enhancing the cultural experience at Centenary for all students, staff, and faculty. E.O.P.'s purposeful community takes pride in student growth, collaborative efforts with staff, faculty, and the broader community, significantly impacting campus and community inclusion.
