The University Core Requirements

The Centenary Core Curriculum is a shared experience for all Centenary students. Students develop not only breadth of knowledge, but also intellectual competencies essential to success in a career--and as a thoughtful citizen of the world.  While students' major course work is especially important for landing their first post-graduate job, the core prepares them to transition into their second, third, and even tenth jobs.  The core focuses on critical thinking, communications, teamwork, and the impact of histories of oppression (especially concerning race and ethnicity).

The synergy between the major work and the core curriculum demonstrates the unique value of a Centenary education: pragmatic and practical, but with the considerable virtues of a great liberal arts education too.

The core consists of 40 credits, which is one third of the credits required for graduation. All students, including Associate and Baccalaureate degree candidates, must successfully complete the core curriculum.
