Centenary University acknowledges the power and importance of generative AI technologies (such as ChatGPT). Centenary is committed to helping all its constituents understand well-informed, responsible use of AI and other technologies.

Instructors have full authority to determine the generative AI policy that is appropriate for each of their courses and clearly communicate this to students, both through course announcements and on the syllabus. In turn, students should familiarize themselves with the generative AI policy for each course. Policies should clearly state the parameters for use, noting that the use of generative AI is either fully acceptable (with citations for sources), partly acceptable under certain circumstances, or not ever acceptable. Ultimately, each instructor will define productive uses of AI in their classes, as well as consequences for improper use.

Violations of a course's generative AI policy will be considered a violation of Centenary's Academic Integrity policy. Instructors may report any such violation to the Academic Review Board.
