GED-646 Children's Literature for the Graduate Student

This course explores diverse, authentic literature written especially for children and young adults.  In addition to studying the formal aspects of the genre and award-winning literature, students will learn how to select, evaluate, and effectively utilize literature for children as a pedagogical tool.  Students will evaluate literature for bias, analyze topics such as censorship and create multimodal text sets.  This course focuses on creating critical readers that work for social justice.
