GED-666 Applied Linguistics: Language Teaching

Pre-requisite: GED 665 Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition for Language Teachers

This course will introduce students to the history, theory & research of English language teaching methodology. This course will cover the practical applications of theory in linguistics and second language acquisition. Students will explore various instructional approaches to create appropriate curriculum, materials, activities, and assessments that foster English language learning. Special focus will be given to content-based instruction and the SIOP model as it pertains to English language learners in the K-12 settings. Students will be required to conduct observations as a part of this class.
