GED-664 Sociolinguistics for English Language Teaching
This course is designed to introduce students to the theories and research in sociolinguistics as they relate to educating English language learners in the US. Special focus will be given to the intersection of language, society, culture, identity and education. Students will explore the historical and cultural backgrounds of limited English proficient students, immigration and advocacy issues, and strategies to foster communication and engagement between schools and ESOL families.
